The California Voter Project is pleased to announce their voter registration and engagement program, “Nuestra Familia Vota” with Northgate Markets in coordination with Alliance for Community Engagement, the Black American Political Action Committee (BAPAC), and NextGen.
“This election cycle has served to highlight how important it is that communities of color are represented at the ballot box. We’ve seen a lot of demagoguery this election cycle, where communities of color have been demonized for political gain. It is our goal that our communities have an opportunity to combat this misrepresentation and under representation by registering to vote and flexing their power at the ballot box,” said Jesus Cardenas, Director of Community Affairs at Alliance for Community Engagement.
“At Northgate, we are proud that our patrons represent the incredible diversity of America. Our diverse communities deserve equal respect from businesses, service organizations and our government. At Northgate Markets we are going to do our part to make sure everyone has voice,” says Alicia Valadez from Norhtgate Markets.
In regards to this project, Congressman Juan Vargas stated, “There has never been a better time for our underserved communities to become politically engaged. The work these organizations are doing through Northgate Markets across San Diego County will help provide a voice to those who have been silenced for too long.”
Northgate will begin hosting voter registration drives and events this Monday, October 24th, at Northgate locations throughout San Diego County. These events will be organized through the California Voter Project and run by BAPAC and Alliance for Community Engagement.Register to Vote
